It seems Marvel movies never seem to escape the rise to fame when it comes to record-breaking debuts at the box office. The Stan Lee-made movie had made a total of $455 million on the weekend of it’s release, $153 million coming from Canada and the United States while the remainder from international markets. In terms of numbers, the $153 million proves to be the third-biggest debut in terms of March movies, approaching behind Batman v. Superman ($166 million) and Beauty in the Beast ($174.7 million). This weekend-opening performance even beats out weekend-opening performances for Iron Man 1 and 2, the first two Captain America movies, all the Thor films, Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2, and every Spider-Man movie ever released, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Suicide Squad, Venom, and every X-Men movie ever. There’s a reason why they call her Captain Marvel am I right?
Looking at it from a global scale, Captain Marvel only comes second, as far as superhero movie opening weekends, to Avengers: Infinity War which had grossed $640.5 million. However, outside of the superhero subject, these numbers have made it the 6th-biggest opening in the history of movies on a worldwide basis.
